Challenge
Based in Vancouver, Columbia College offers high school and college programs. Their previous viewbooks used to attract international students were looking dated and they needed a fresh, yet cohesive package to attract new students who want an urban experience in a world-class city.
Solution
The "Spring into your Future" theme was created for both the high school and college viewbooks. Different colours were used to identify the high school and college programs, but viewers can still see they are the same brand with the treatment of translucent circles and images of students jumping in the air. The visuals are memorable and easy to understand for non-English speaking students and their families.
Results
The new viewbooks helped Columbia College expand their student base. They now have students from 11 countries worldwide. Applications also significantly increased, providing Columbia College the ability to diversify their student base from different parts of the world.
For the high school program, applications rose 35% in the first year and another 30% in the second year. In total, applications for both programs rose 11% and registration increased by 14% over the past two years.
“Columbia College needed help with refreshing our marketing materials for our college and high school programs to compete on an equal footing with our competitors. Estella understands the international educational sector and was able to help us discover our strengths and delve into what makes our college stand apart from other colleges. She was able to translate our strengths into the viewbooks with an easy-to-understand concept that stands out visually – and help us connect to younger audiences for our high school program too. Under her art direction, we now also have a library of great photography to use over the next few years, giving us greater flexibility. Having her on our team was an investment well worth making.”
